Power of Prayer!

Today our prayers have been answered! Elizabeth was again weaned off the "big sedative" today and PRAISE GOD her eyes opened! Not only that- but Elizabeth was able to follow basic commands that the nurse gave her. She wiggled her toes, fingers, and gripped the hands of her family. Her eyes did just open the one time and they opened half way... but we are REJOICING in this answered prayer! Also- the ventilator has been turned off. Elizabeth still has the breathing tube in, but only as a precaution. We need some more good news before the tube can be removed. On a side note, Elizabeth had her hair washed today with her own personal shampoo. We think she's pretty happy about that. ;)

There are still some concerns at time. An echocardiogram and an EKG were performed this morning and we are awaiting those results. The test results typically take around 36 hours so we expect to have the results Thursday afternoon sometime.

PRAISE. God is hearing our prayers. Not only is He hearing but He is answering our prayers. Our Elizabeth is trying vigorously to wake up. The vent has been turned off! (notice what we prayed for so wholeheartedly yesterday HAPPENED today!)

PRAISE: Her sweet mother and father were in the room with her when she opened her eyes. The whole family is rejoicing and recharged after this day. They are being comforted by friends and loved ones and feel the Lord's presence.

This time is still extremely critical. Elizabeth has moved forward, but there are still some big obstacles to overcome. We are hopeful, but need to be realistic. There is a very long road ahead of Elizabeth.

PRAY. Pray that Elizabeth would continue to wake up on her own. Pray that it would be easy for her.

PRAY. Pray for the test results that doctors are awaiting. Pray that the doctors would be skilled to evaluate these results to know how to take care of Elizabeth. Pray that the results are good and that no other concerns arise.

PRAY. Pray that this family would not lose hope. Elizabeth has made progress and we are are encouraged.

Hold tight to this scripture today... its Eliz's favorite:

"For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND."
II Timothy 1:7

  14. Michelle, Bill, and Elizabeth,
Praying God's healing hand would surround and bring complete recovery from the injuries suffered in the accident. May all your medical workers have insight/wisdom to know just what you need to get better soon! May God continue to strengthen and uphold you! "Do not fear for I am with you. Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Surely I will help you. Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." (Isaiah 41:10) Love and blessings,

  20. My Dad was in a medically-induced coma following a major surgery at Baptist Hospital almost a year ago. He remained in the coma for nearly 2 weeks. But the point is, he came out of it, one little bit at a time. Sometimes, their bodies and minds just need a little longer to heal. We didn't understand it, and we still don't, but he came back to us, if ever so slowly. I believe in miracles. I have seen them first-hand. And I believe Elizabeth will come back to you too. I will continue to pray for her miraculous recovery.

  23. Liz, You are such a strong and amazing person! I've always looked up to you and I think the world of you. I pray for you all the time. It is so encouraging to see all of the people you have rooting for you. The amount of posts on here and facebook are overwhelming and seeing all of your family and friends at the hospital was even more amazing, but most important I know that God is hearing your name so much. We won't stop praying until your body is fully restored and you're back to your same sweet self! I Love You, Amanda
