Time to Wake Up

Elizabeth had a good restful night of sleep. The meds were lowered a couple of times yesterday, but Liz was beginning to fight the tubes and when her heartrate rose they induced sleep again for her to rest. Praise God that at this time her motor skills seem to be functioning well as she was kicking her legs and bending her arms!!

Today is a new day! They began weaning Elizabeth off the sleep meds at around 6:30 am and are waiting for her to wake on her own. Elizabeth is ready to come off the ventilator because she is breathing on her own (another PRAISE!). They will leave it in until she can follow some basic commands that the doctors give her.

SO, this is a critical time. Our prayers are being heard, but we need to pray now more than ever!

PRAY. Pray that our Elizabeth would wake up on her own. Pray that it would be easy for her.

PRAY. Pray that her eyes would open and that she would be able to follow commands that the doctors give her.

PRAY. Pray that she would be coherent. Pray that the same compassionate, loving, sweet Elizabeth that we all know wakes up.

I know we are all scared right now.... but I am claiming this verse of scripture that a sweet follower of Elizabeth's blog posted yesterday:
"Because [s]he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue [her]; I will protect [her], for [s]he acknowledges my name. [S]he will call upon me, and I will answer [her]; I will be with [her] in trouble, I will deliver [her] and honor [her]. With long life will I satisfy [her] and show [her] my salvation." - Psalm 91:14-15

  3. Elizabeth, please know that prayers are being offered for you on the other side of the world! While you are sleeping, I am awake in India, and I will constantly intercede for you! I love you and I know that God has always been kind to you and to me, so I trust that this experience will one day be a story of that as well. He is truly the God who sees all. He has seen this accident. He sees the hearts of your family and friends. And He feels everyone's struggle and pain. He will come through in whatever way He chooses and we will continue to praise Him! I love you, girl! P.S. I explained today to some friends in India what a Wampus Cat is. One day I know you'll read that and laugh!

  4. Elizabeth,
I do not know you but have been reading this blog constantly throughout the past couple of days. My heart goes out to you and your family. My prayer has been that He would just heal you in a powerful way that even the Doctors wouldn't know what happened but when you wake up and are coherent that you can tell them how BIG and Awesome our God is!

  6. It is times like these when we are reminded that we are all a member of God's Big Family. Although I do not know your family personally I can certainly relate to the anxiousness and hurt you are feeling right now. I am a mother of three beautiful blessings, all who have either graduated or are attending UCA now. I know the deep love of a child and my most sincere and sweetest prayers are with your beautiful daughter and your entire family and friends. With your strong faith and so many people praying for this young lady greater healing will come soon, but in God's time. The family must remember to take care of themselves and stay strong because you need to be healthy and strong for Elizabeth. Peace and love be with you all.

  21. Elizabeth,

You are currently "out of it" with your injuries and being in the ICU, on a vent, and yet your witness speaks volumes. What a testimony your are. You are a "witness unaware" at the moment--but touching other people as they learn of your strong faith. for you and your sweet, precious family, "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you." 2 Thes. 3:16

  33. To the Parsley family, One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is the faith that the Roman Centurion has when he implored our Lord Jesus, saying my servant is lying paralyzed at home, fearfully tormented. Jesus said, "I will come and heal him." But the centurion said, "Lord I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I am also a man under authority with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, 'Go and he goes, and to another, 'Come!' and he comes, and to my slave, 'Do this!' and he does it." Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled and said to those who were following, " Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel.............and Jesus said to the centurion, "Go; it shall be done for you as you have believed." And the servant was healed that very moment.
Lord God, "We implore you to to just, say the word and our dear Elizabeth will be healed." We give you praise for healing Elizabeth!
